By using the services provided by Guildford Street Computer, you agree to the terms outlined below. Please read them carefully before submitting your device for repair or service.
1. Repair Risks
Repairs are inherently unpredictable. Your device may be beyond repair, or it may be permanently damaged during the repair process and rendered non-functional. This is especially true for:
Liquid-damaged devices, which may have corrosion, oxidation, or short-circuited components that deteriorate over time.
Devices with glued-on screens, which may break during necessary prying despite all precautions. Screens are fragile and carry a small but real risk of damage.
Devices with Touch ID / Face ID, which may fail and become unusable during repair.
Laptops and all-in-one computers with integrated GPUs, which may fail without warning—particularly in known problem models.
2. Estimates
Our estimates are based on the initial diagnosis and are not guaranteed to be final. Additional issues may become apparent after work begins.
We will notify you of any changes before proceeding.
Approval is required before we perform any work beyond the original scope.
Our initial estimate remains valid only for the services originally quoted.
3. Limited Shop Warranty
We offer a 30-day warranty on all repairs and parts supplied by Guildford Street Computer.
If an issue from the original repair recurs within 30 days, we’ll re-perform the repair at no additional charge.
The warranty does not cover unrelated issues that arise after the repair or those caused by external factors (see exclusions below).
4. Warranty Exclusions
The following are not covered under our 30-day warranty:
Repairs using customer-supplied parts
Software issues, including OS installations and virus removals
New problems unrelated to the original repair
User-caused damage, including:
Drops, crushing, or exposure to extreme temperatures
Liquid exposure or spills
Electrical issues from poor power supply or surges
Use of non-original or faulty accessories
Any tampering, opening, or modifying of the device after repair
Note: Manufacturer warranties may be voided by third-party repairs. Guildford Street Computer is not responsible for any loss of manufacturer coverage.
5. Warranty Repairs
If a previously repaired issue reoccurs within 30 days:
We will reattempt the repair at no cost.
If the problem is unrelated, we will inform you and provide a new estimate.
Refunds are only issued if we’re unable to fix the problem again and are subject to a repair attempt fee.
6. Repair Time & Turnaround
While we aim to complete repairs quickly (often within 3–5 working days), no timeframe is guaranteed. Timing depends on the issue, part availability, and current workload.
7. Replacement Parts Policy
We will contact you for approval before ordering any parts.
We only use parts sourced through Guildford Street Computer to ensure quality.
If you supply your own parts:
We do not provide a warranty for the work or the parts.
You waive liability for damage caused by incompatible or defective parts.
8. Repair Attempt Fee
A repair attempt fee of £15–£30 may be charged if:
The device is unrepairable
The issue is undiagnosable
Data recovery is unsuccessful
The device was previously worked on before arriving at our shop
9. Data & Liability
We do not guarantee the integrity or safety of your data. While we take precautions, data loss may occur.
If there's a known risk, we will offer a paid backup service before proceeding.
Customers are strongly advised to back up data before handing over their devices.
10. Device Pickup & Storage Policy
Devices must be picked up within 30 days of notification. After this period:
Devices may be considered abandoned
We reserve the right to sell or recycle the device
A £10/month storage fee applies if prior arrangements are made
Final Acknowledgment
By submitting your device for service, you:
Acknowledge and accept all risks associated with repair
Agree to the terms above
Understand that Guildford Street Computer is not liable for data loss, further damage, or voided warranties
